Ian developed a passion for Indigenous culture at a young age and has lived and worked in the NT and Queensland. His work is very highly regarded in far northern Australia and elsewhere, especially in the relevant Aboriginal communities where some of the songs were composed.

“I am of a non-indigenous background, but was ‘adopted’ into a Tiwi family and given a tribal (Tiwi) name; I have ongoing connections with the Tiwi Islands (N.T.), Barunga (N.T.), and Yarrabah (Qld) Indigenous communities.
